People believe that using mobile phones and computers to communicate make us lose the ability to communicate with each other face to face. To what extent do you agree or disagree? ;
Keywords: use of technology, ability to communicate
It may be a shared acknowledgement that the information technology has profoundly transformed the way people socialize and interact. However, many have been pondering the pros and cons of ;these high-tech devices in the fear of being ;paralyzed ;and deprived of ability to carry out face communication. From where I stand, this kind of doom and gloom ;is completely ;bilateral.
There is no denying that human communication is by no means the ;original ;and face-to-face way we use in the past, when you can pick up the other person’s emotions and delicate implications directly all by observing ;his or her ;facial expressions as well as body languages. However, this doesn’t mean we are losing touch of this ability that is embedded ;in our genes. Human communication has come a long way from the very first language hundreds of thousands years ago to the 21th century, when we adopt computers and phones as major supplements to ;boost the indispensable ;efficiency. ;Therefore, it’s only natural for mankind to keep updating and perfecting our communication system.
Those who are strongly against the discussed devices may argue that the number of people feeling isolated and powerless when facing a crowd is steadily on the rise. They wholeheartedly believe the devices are to blame for this phenomenon. However, the truth is that the modern society is not for everyone since it demands ;great mental strength to take on the ongoing pressure ;and sometimes catastrophic frustration ;merely to survive. It is unfair to hold technology guilty for the distance among one another created by insufficient communication under the ;crazy tempo of modern life.
To sum up, technology is not the ;real culprit for certain people’s inability to conduct face-to-face communication. If any, it helps to stay close and intimate ;people with their ;loved ones, thus reducing the awkwardness ;when they actually meet in person.
